About the Event

The Guildhall has been central to the City’s development since the Romans founded Londinium nearly 2000 years ago. Originally the site of London’s amphitheatre (built AD 70), the Guildhall was home to the City of London Corporation and the hub of City life by the Middle Ages - an era when the Lord Mayor of London rivalled the monarch for influence and prestige.

Join our tour to learn more about how the City operates, its livery companies, famous events that took place within its medieval walls, and admire the impressive memorials to some of Britain’s most important historic figures. We will conclude with drinks at the Guildhall’s Members Club.

Your Host for the evening will be our Upper Warden, Deputy Henry Pollard.

Henry has spent over 40 years working in the City for a range of financial services companies. He has worked in Europe and Mexico as well as London in the commodity, derivatives, capital raising and fund management industries and was a founding member of EMFA (the alternative investments fund association now known as AIMA). He is currently Managing Director at C&E Capital Consulting representing British start-ups and asset raising and representation for funds. He has previously held senior positions at other UK and US asset management firms.

Henry is an elected Member of the City of London Corporation, first elected for the Ward of Dowgate in 2002.  He currently sits on several Investment Committees including that of the main charity, Bridge House Estates and chairs the City’s Markets Board.
